General:
Font: ALWAYS Times New Roman
Spacing: 1.5 throughout (except quotes, which are single-spaced)
Margins: 1.75" left and 1.75" right (main text), with larger margins for consistency where specified
Paragraphs: Always indented and followed by paragraph breaks
Title & Author
Title: ALL CAPS, 12-point, centered
Author name: 11-point, italicized, centered, directly below the title
Both followed by a paragraph space
Abstract
Font: 11-point Times New Roman
Length: 1 paragraph
Indentation: 0.25" at start of each paragraph
Alignment: Justified left and right
Spacing: 1.5
Headings & Subheadings
Section Headings:
ALL CAPS, centered
Numbered with Roman numerals (e.g., I., II.) followed by a period
Subheadings:
Title case, flush left (not centered)
Labeled with a capital letter + period (e.g., A.)
Italicized after the label
Main Body
Paragraphs: First line indented 2" from the left
Section titles: Centered (aligned with margins, i.e., at 3.25")
Subsection titles: Flush left, labeled as noted above
Headers & Footnotes
Running header: Short title of the article, centered (3.25"), 11-point Font, on every even-numbered page switching back and forth to “The Appellate: Journal of Law and Policy” on every odd-numbered page.
Footnotes:
10-point Times New Roman
Left-aligned (not justified)
Placed at the end of a paragraph (no “see id.” or repeated notes necessary)
